CITY OF LILOAN SOON!

In 2019, House Bill 5031 was filed in the lower house for the conversion of the municipality of Liloan to a component city.

And it is finally qualified to become one, with the release of the 2020 Census showing it has a population of 153,197.

For municipalities to qualify for cityhood, Republic Act 9009 requires it to have:
A. An annual local income of at least P100 million in the past two years as certified by the Department of Finance.
B. A territory of 100 square kilometers (10,000 hectares) OR a population of at least 150,000.

In the case of Liloan, the income requirement has long been met but since its land area is less than 100 square kilometers, the only way it can qualfy is to have a population of 150,000, and that has just been validated by the 2020 Census.

It is still a long process in Congress, but no doubt about it, Cebu will have City of Liloan soon.

CAMOTES, THE MOST UNDERRATED AND THE LEAST VISITED PLACE IN CEBU!

🌴Considered as the ‘Lost horizon of the south’, Camotes refers to a group of islands in the Camotes sea, triangulated by the islands of Cebu, Bohol and Leyte.

🌴 It is home to the municipalities of San Francisco in Pacijan island, Poro and Tudela in Poro island and Pilar in Ponson island.

🌴 The highest point is Altavista, 388 metres (1,273 ft) above sea level, on Poro.

Bukilat Cave in the town of Tudela (CTTO)

🌴 Lake Danao in Pacijan island, which at 650 hectares (1,600 acres) is the largest freshwater lake in Cebu province.

🌴Porohanon or Camotes Visayan is spoken in the town of Poro only, and is one of the most endangered languages in the Visayas. Porohanon is distinguished by the way the locals substitute the /y/ sound for /z/. Example: maayong buntag (good morning) in Cebuano would be changed to maazong buntag in Porohanon

🌴Camotes is blessed with many natural attractions from caves, waterfalls, a lake and a scenic mangrove forest.

🌴 Compared to their counterparts in the mainland and even those in Bantayan island, the towns of Camotes are the least visited and the most underrated.

12 Things To Do at Home to Stay Away from Covid-19!

In the face of real and present danger due to a highly contagious virus, Covid-19, the most prudent thing to do right now is to stay at home.

But how to while away your time in isolation for several days if necessary?

Here’s some productive ways to kill time at home and avoid the coronavirus.

1. Clean your room. Yes, when was the last time you reached out those nooks and crannies for cobwebs and dusts? While you’re at it, why not include the toilets and kitchen, the living and dining room too.

2. Declutter your cabinet. Remove the things you don’t need anymore and move to storage area the ones that are seldom used. Believe me, it is so fulfilling after.

3. For the men, it’s finally time to change those busted lights, fix dripping faucets, clean the floor drains, lubricate those squeaking doors and finally, since summer is approaching in the Philippines, clean those aircon filters and electric fan blades to prepare for the hot season.

4. Clean up your email inbox and free up some space. For those who have thousands of unread messages and notifications, now is the chance to remove them one by one. Painstaking, but remember, you have plenty of time on your hand.

5. Remove unneccesary applications from your phone and discover new ones. No, not the Tik Tok, there are other apps out there that are worth exploring. Tell us.

6. Tend to your plants and pets. They’ve always been waiting for your attention and wanting your affection.

7. Learn to cook a new dish. Explore your refrigerator and check your spices and McCormicks, for sure you can concoct something interesting and yummy.

8. Read a book or two. Where are those books you hoarded at the book sale of Big Bad Wolf? Now’s the time to finally read them beyond the introduction page.

9. Watch thought provoking documentaries about the world. Try if you can solve age-old mysteries and confusions. Look for ‘Silurian Hypothesis’. (thanks to Atty Ben Cabrido for the idea). This is a good exercise to accumulate more knowledge and gain a new perspective.

10. Try to learn a new language through Youtube. With perseverance and patience, you can actually learn foreign words while having fun and killing time.

11. Oh yes, there’s more to Netflix than just the Bird Box and those suspenseful series. Try watching good old movies from the past and unleash a flood of memories in the process.

12. Update yourself with the latest happenings in Cebu. Back-read posts of InfoCebu for a good dose of information about Cebu’s economy, real estate and government infrastructure projects.
