Canadian Trash sailing home after a 6-year vacation in the tropics.

The overstaying Canadian rubbish is finally on its way home to its North  American country of origin after a 6-year vacation in the tropics.

But not after an odorous trash talking from President Duterte before the world.

As it sails back to Canada, several  stinking truths are exposed.

First is that the Philippine President has shown his oversized political balls while his Canadian counterpart has probably misplaced his, if ever he has any.

Second, A first-world country is  exporting its household trash to developing nations across the ocean. Apparently, some were sent to Malaysia too and who knows where else!

Third, for the indecisive Canadian government to slumber on the issue for six long years is disrespectful and insulting to the citizens of the Philippines.

Even the Canadian people are unhappy with their government. A random interview among residents of one Canadian city reveal their  dissapointment for the way things  were handled by their bureaucrats.

Regrettably, it has become a world headline and they are at the receiving end of unsanitary jokes and memes.

The ship with 25,000 ton trash load is expected to arrive in two weeks time. It is not clear yet what fanfare is prepared for the symbolic homecoming. For sure it has developed a nice tan by now, after  sunbathing in warm Philippine  sunshine for a long time.

In exchange for the hospitality extended to its overstaying garbage, Canada needs to make an apology.

Update on SM Cebu Arena

“But the feverous excitement got doused by cold politics…”

The long wait is almost over. We will soon be able to watch the Golden State Warriors play live against another NBA team right here in Cebu. Prepare some popcorn and root beer then read on..

Construction of Cebu Arena, a world-class, NBA standard indoor sports venue is finally commencing soon.

Different sources reveal that the stalled project is about to make up for lost ground and opportunity wasted in the years that the plan was shelved.

News of an SM Cebu Arena first floated around 2013 and instantly captured the imagination of Cebuanos. Many were looking forward to a wide grin selfie with an NBA game in the background.

But the feverous excitement got doused by cold politics or more aptly, by cold hearted politicians. With a formidable resistance from somewhere between the floors of the city hall, bleak future confronts the project.

Cebu Arena is part of the masterplan of SM Prime in the South Road Properties (SRP) together with SM Seaside Mall, Cebu Oceanarium and a multi-tower complex.

When completed, hopefully soon, 16,000 people can be comfortably accommodated, slightly lower than the 20,000 seating capacity of the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Cebu has many attractions and facilities but unfortunately not a world-class arena yet. In fact, since time immemorial, Cebu Coliseum has always been the only venue for big sporting contests including boxing and basketball, a place that has seen better days.

It is long overdue for Cebu to have a modern coliseum that can proudly showcase the skills and talent of the Queen city.

Hopefully with the newly elected leaders, politics will take a sidestep or maybe take a vacation for a while so much needed infeastructure like SM Cebu Arena can proceed smoothly.

Here’s the latest design of Cebu Arena.

Airport Village at Cebu’s International Gateway

The unique airport feature is the first of its kind in the country

Terminal 1 of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is currently undergoing complete renovation based on the design of Budji + Royal, one of the country’s best architects today.

Accordingly, apart from the usual functionality of a modern airport terminal, the facility will likewise be transformed into an “Airport Village“.

The ‘Airport Village’ will be the first of its kind in the country.

Based on latest data, close to 8 million passengers pass through the international gateway annually, majority of which use Terminal 1.

This new Airport Village is said to be one of a kind, where people waiting for the arrival of their loved ones can shop, eat or roam around the spacious mall. On the other hand, arriving passengers can likewise buy last minute pasalubongs.

Even transients, or those just passing through, while waiting for their connecting flights, can do away time shopping around.

Expected completion is end of 2019.

GMR-Megawide consortium operates the two terminals of MCIA under a build-operate-transfer agreement with the government.

As the most modern international airport in the country, MCIA is considered by many as the best face the Philippines today,

Cebu City-Danao City Bypass Road

Traffic in Cebu is really becoming a big issue these days especially if you’re going north of the city,  with the expected bottlenecks in Mandaue city, Consolacion and in Liloan.

So here’s the good news. A new road has been opened to traffic linking Cebu city to Compostela, Cebu via the new Dapdap-Paril road bypassing Mandaue city and the towns of Liloan and Consilacion.

When fully completed, travel time will be lessened by at least sixty minutes or more.

This is a welcome development to residents of Northern Cebu who can now skip the ordeal of traffic in the usual chokepoints especially emergency vehicles like ambulances and other government vehicles in urgent official trips.

Once people get accustomed to this new bypass road, Cebu North Road will eventually take a breather and hopefully, traffic condition will improve especially during rush hours.

What a good news indeed!
